What to know about the Chihuahua
Temperament and living together
Alert, brave and very loyal, the Chihuahua bonds closely with its favourite person. It is sociable and playful with the family, although it can be reserved with strangers: early socialisation helps it gain confidence. With its small size and big personality, it thinks it is enormous!
Daily care
It needs short walks and play every day, and a coat when it is cold. Brush weekly (more if the coat is long) and keep up good dental hygiene. Because it is fragile, handle it gently and avoid jumping from heights.
Health and prevention
Good dental hygiene, a balanced diet in small portions and gentle handling all contribute to its well-being. With older children who know how to treat it with care, it feels right at home.
