What to know about the Dachshund
Temperament and living together
Brave, curious and determined: it keeps its hunting instinct and loves to sniff and explore. It is very attached to its family, although it has plenty of character and can be stubborn. With consistent, positive training it is a faithful, fun companion that keeps an eye on everything at home.
Daily care
It needs regular, moderate exercise, without jumping or too many stairs. Keeping a healthy weight is key: lift it on and off sofas and beds, and use a harness rather than a collar. Check the ears and coat regularly, depending on the variety.
Health and prevention
Keeping a healthy weight, moderate exercise and helping it on and off sofas and beds all help protect its back and let it enjoy an active life.
